Winterfylleth (UK): “The Hallowing of Heirdom”

Winterfylleth are a well-known black metal band from Manchester that many of you may already know. The British band is known for an atmospheric and evocative style with themes taken from nature, British history and Anglo-Saxon literature. After the beautiful The Dark Thereafter from 2016, the Manchester band opted for a folk-style acoustic album, The Hallowing of Heirdom, very similar to Ulver's Kveldssanger, just to give a clue. The album is solid and well done, and its resemblance to Kveldssanger is due to its folk style, but other than that, with all due respect to this wonderful band, I have to say that Kveldssanger is another level. As well done as it is, The Hallowing of Heirdom is perhaps too long to be an acoustic album and not engaging in the long run; perhaps the sound of the Norwegian language is also more fascinating. However, The Hallowing of Heirdom remains a very solid and very valid album to recommend to everyone.
