Whoredom Rife (Norway) / Taake (Norway): “Pakt”

A split EP called Pakt between Whoredom Rife and almighty Taake has recently been released on the Norwegian label Terratur Possessionis. Whoredome Rife is a duo from Trondheim launched in 2014 with two albums and two EP's out, and they deliver solid, powerful black metal. The first two songs on the split are their work. The first one “From Nameless Pagan Graves” is furious and harsh while the second one “En lenke smidd i blod” is more mid-tempo. The third track is “Ubesieret”  by Taake, an interesting piece that blends all of Hoest's influences from rock to black metal. The closing track is “Heartland”, a Sisters of Mercy cover revisited in a black metal fashion. All in all, Pakt is a good release; if one wants to listen to good black metal, one may find Whoredom Rife’s contribution more interesting, alas.
 
Notes:
Pakt was released on March 20, 2020 through Terratur Possessionis both digitally and as vinyl. The two Taake songs were also released digitally by Dark Essence Records.
