Here is another band that is unfairly unacknowledged: it is Vorna, folk/pagan black metal band from Tampere, Finland, existing since 2008. On their website, the band explain that their influences embrace black metal, folk and rock music, and that Vorna is the name of a character from Finnish folklore. With this in mind, it might be easy to associate Vorna to bands like Finntroll and Korpiklaani, but that would be wrong.
The Finnish band has so far released two albums: Ajastaika in 2013 and El velo minua seuraa in 2015; in 2016 the band also released the single Aalloista. Surely you recognize the folk element, sometimes a little epic, in the music of Vorna, but I would say that there is a considerable atmospheric element in it; just think for example at the beginning of “Vaipunut”. However, I will let you listen and judge by yourselves. As for the themes, since the lyrics are in Finnish, I rely on the band's statement on their website, that is they are about nature, myths and struggles of mind.
El velo minua seuraa is in every respect an excellent release that I heartily recommend.
