A good Christmas present is this newly released album by Voltumna, one of the most interesting bands of the recent Italian panorama. The fourth album by the Lazio band is titled Ciclope that is a one-eyed giant in the Greek-Roman mythology. The title is much more than a clue to what the texts are about: as known, Voltumna explore themes linked to ancient Italic mythology, especially Etruscan but also Greek-Roman. The general atmosphere is dark and ritual as usual, but I would say that the novelty is in the sound: less folk more expressive and introspective. Overall this is an excellent album but needs to be listened to carefully. Recommended.
