die hard fans of black metal do not need to be introduced to Valkyrja, a well established Swedish black metal band that is been active since 2004 and can boast performances at many an important festival around the world. Now their fourth album Throne Ablaze is out, and is a masterpiece, perhaps one of the best albums of 2018.
Born in the footsteps of Watain, from which they were strongly influenced at the dawn of their career, in my opinion, now Valkyrja seem to have got rid of this original sin. Throne Ablaze is striking for its limitlessness, for its openness, for its unpredictability and profoundity, but remaining at the same time a genuinely black metal album, which is prefect. Unmissable.
