Wraiþaz delivers raw black metal with a very primitive atmosphere that is also reflected in the production; on the songwriting level, it tries to come to very core of black metal with simple structures and minimalistic riffing. The most used pattern is a high-pitched tremolo melody accompanied by a rhythm section in mid-tempo, but it sounds too stereotypical even when they try to add some dissonance as in “Anthem of Decay”. Much better when there is more grove, as in “Inner Rampage”, which is, in my opinion, the best track and has a very primal and, I would say, Norwegian feeling. Overall, Wraiþaz marks a step backward compared to the previous album. Resit next time.
