Norsk black metal conglomerate Ulvehyrde is hailing from Hønefoss and featuring past and present members from Beastcraft, Vulture Lord, Sarkom, Isvind, Angst Skvadron. It was ignited in 2018, and after two singles, the first full-length Englemakersken was finally released earlier in the year. Their music is a pure fundamental mid-tempo black metal, based upon old, dark Norwegian history. It is vaguely reminiscent of other Norwegian bands such as Khold and Tulus, known for their slow and powerful style, with which Ulvehyrde also shares a drawback, namely that the album, in the long run, turns out to be slightly dull and monotonous. In conclusion, Englemakersken is not the most brilliant album but is certainly solid. Recommended if you like slow-paced and powerful black metal.
