I am delighted that Canadian Spectral Wound is back after their sophomore album Infernal Decadence that I myself praised on that occasion. I was impressed then, so I was expecting something great now, and I did not get disappointed. A Diabolic Thirst is one of the few exciting things I've heard in this 2021 so far lacking in memorable albums. The brand new album by the Canadian act is new and old at the same time as it creates a modern sound on an essentially traditional and old school basis.
The band takes their own methodology of Quebecois black metal through vicious sonic layers that culminate in six triumphant ferocious hymns where blood freezing melodies and harsh yet massive overtones bring a decadent and euphoric flow to this glorious masterwork the band have conjured.
In a nutshell, this is a masterpiece and a top release in 2021, so don't waste any more time and listen to it!
