Solacide (Finland): “The Finish Line”

​The underground is full of bands thatt have been active for extremely long time but that for some reason have released something important very late. I have already recounted many similar examples and now the list needs to be updated with Solacide, a Finnish band from Lahti formed in 2004 on the ashes of Dim Moonlight, a band active between 1996 and 2004 that released only two demos. During the band's new course, that is as Solacide, after yet another demo and two EP's, the first full length The Finish Line arrived as late as in 2016. The album shows the high ambition of the band to merge prog and black metal; saying it with the due caution, Solacide remind me of Italian Sadist but with more black metal sound. Listening to this album is enjoying the high virtuosity of which this quartet is capable; particularly impressive is guitarist Gökhan Korkmaz, although in the long run the album ends up being scholastic and tiresome.
