Skygge: “Antiqua Ignis”

​Skygge was a Norwegian solo-project of Skyggemester; launched in 2011 in Bergen, Norway, this act has released a demo and two full-legths, the second of which, Antiqua Ignis, was released in January this year. I used the past tense because Skyggemester, a few months after the release, and exactly in July, decided to dismantle the project by announcing that he would concentrate on his side-project NordKraft. Skyggemester also claimed that he would devote himself to non-metal projects.

I want to feature Skygge all the same, because this band's last album Antiqua Ignis is good and a perfect example of eeriness, savageness and fury. The album deals with the death of the old and the creation of the new through the ancient primordial fires of Hecate and Lucifer. I think the classic Norwegian touch is not missing. It is not an original album, this must also be said, but it is well done. Too bad that this project has split up; we can really wish Skyggemester good luck with NordKraft and his other projects.
