The album marks definitely a big step forward over the EP, including the production itself. The band delivers atmospheric black metal with strong influences from doom, which is evident from the initial riff of “Bloodless”, the first proper song on the album; this doom element is very well combined with more traditional black metal elements, like tremolo riffs backed by blast beats. In general, it is safe to say that Scáth na Déithe have a touch of their own that makes them original and personal, regardless of the influences. Maybe a small flaw is that sometimes you have the impression that the songs are dragged a bit, but apart from this, Pledge Nothing but Flesh is a great album and Scáth na Déithe are unique in what they do.
