Sangus (formerly known as Sangus Legionaris) is a band from Providence (RI-USA) in which members of Paindriver, Haxen, Sin of Angels, Nachzehrer & I, Destroyer militate; they are clearly devoted to bands like Venom and Sarcofago and this can be seen from the three tracks contained in their demo full of old school black/thrash.
The songs are full of classic riffs typical of the genre, definitely suited to those who prefer to make some noise and headbanging rather than those who are looking for a more “committed” type of black metal. Certainly the aptitude is on the side of the band, despite the lack of originality (which unfortunately affects the whole thrash/black genre in my opinion); the entire demo is made up of power chords and furious blast beats that leave little breath.
The recording is perfectly suited to the purpose, since it results in a dirty sound but clear enough to make everything understandable.
The lyrics (which talk about death and hymns to Satan) are in English but in some parts they use the Italian language (the third track “Si Brucerà” is almost entirely in Italian), due to the origins of the Italian-American singer.
A debut that will surely appeal to the lovers of violence "in your face".
