Their debut EP Rancore consists of five tracks (one of which is an intro) in which it is possible to hear the usual influences of the old glories typical of the black metal genre (old Gorgoroth in primis).
The production turns out to be good but the overall mixing sounds more like a homemade production rather than a studio recording (I found that often the drums are too prominent over the rest of the instruments and the vocals are penalized in some passages).
The first two songs are definitely valid (in some parts I heard echoes of Malnàtt from Bologna) while the remaining two ones are perhaps too long, despite their containing a few riffs worthy of note.
The lyrics, all in Italian, range from accusations against Christianity, guilty of having deleted the original pagan roots of the peoples, and hymns to the old rituals, for example in “La grande menzogna” (‘The Big Lie’) and “Vento glaciale” (‘Glacial Wind’), to fierce screams of nihilism as in “Rancore” (‘Grudge’):
“Possano i falsi provar sofferenza del male patir la sua quintessenza / Possa il mio odio salir fino al cielo, pura espressione di sdegno assoluto / Fredda falce lunare illumina la mia crepuscolare esistenza privata di quiescenza In un crescendo / Di orrida incoscienza” (‘May the false feel suffering, suffer the quintessence of evil / May my hatred climb up to the sky, pure expression of absolute scorn / Cold crescent moon light up my crepuscular existence deprived of quiescence, in a crescendo / of horrid unconsciousness’).
A definitely good debut EP, let’s wait to hear their next job.
