The second wave of black metal is still a source of inspiration for many bands, as demonstrated by this American three-piece from Massachusetts, Plagues; at the momenmt, this act is still unsigned and has released only three demos, the first one in 2013. The latest demo Death March testifies that the American band produces raw black metal without any pretension or aspiration to be particularly innovative: this is evident in the riffing, in the sound, and the production. This four-track demo does not even want to be particularly entertaining, due to its brevity. Unfortunately, Death March is rather unimpressive, despite the efforts made by Plagues to add some melody, or variation between mid-tempo and blast beats or even black'n roll movements, as in the beginning of “Abyss”: too little!
