Paisaunt (Finland): “Primitiue Black Metal”

From Finland, Primitiue Black Metal is the first release of the one-man band Paisaunt formed by Zannibal, guitarist of the Finnish black metal band Marrasmieli. While the title may suggest some form of raw or primitive second wave black metal in the vein of early Darkthrone, Primitiue Black Metal is nothing of the sort; it is rather atmospheric black metal full of melodies and relatively slow parts. Zannibal himself has stated that he was inspired by the French and Quebec black metal scene that combines melody and atmosphere. What is primitive on the other hand is definitely the recording and the production, but that seems very spot-on. While Paisaunt's debut EP is not unique, it is still fairly enjoyable. Good job!
