Ouija is a Spanish cult band formed in 1995 from the ashes of the death metal band Levial. Since their beginnings, Ouija were devoted to the black word by exploring themes related to Satanism and anti-Christianity. The Spanish band released a full-length (Riding into the Funeral Paths, 1997) and a split before quitting in 2001. In 2009 the band was reformed and has released an EP in 2010 and a full-length in 2013(Ave Voluptatis Carnis) ever since; after a silence of eight years, Ouja are now back once again with the EP Selenophile Impia.
The new EP presents three tracks of solid, rough black metal and pays tribute to the glorious second wave tradition. The tracks are compact, well structured, captivating, with good ideas, but somewhat dull, and that penalizes the EP. Selenophile Impia still deserves respect, and especially if you like harsh, eerie and abrasive black metal, then listen to it.
