From the region of Saarland, Germany, Nýr Gata are a melodic death / black metal duo formed in 2014, whose debut album is this full length album titled Seraphim. For a debut album, Seraphim is excellent, revealing it a complex and thorough work of composition and a very good production. Sarghas and Nordmann, the two guys involved in this project, are in fact accomplished musicians with a long militancy in several bands of the German scene. In my opinion, even if something of their sound certainly connects them to the realm of black metal, the complex riffing and the use of special techniques, such as the guitar trills in “Acheron”, reveals the death and thrash metal soul of the band. Apart from this, Seraphim is really good and it constantly travels at high speed, although in the long run this album fails to maintain the same interest that it manages to arouse at the beginning. Recommended.
