I have previously already reviewed bands from the stable of this special label, and now I want to introduce you to Neocortex, an atmospheric black metal band, of course, from Saarland. This band were formed in 2001, it took them fifteen years to release something: in 2015, they released a live album and their first full length Es liegt die Welt in Scherben. This is definitely unusual, but we must say that the band have developed a very personal style over the years, that is, atmospheric black metal with influences from dark rock and psychic rock; the lyric themes revolve mainly around philosophy, transience, social criticism, death and suicide. It is very interesting even if the four German guys put the listener to the test with long and slow songs. I mean that sometimes the listen can be challenging, but after several plays one gets into the atmosphere of this album and captures its nuances; too bad that the production is a bit penalizing. But Es liegt die Welt in Scherben is still a very interesting album that I highly recommend.
