This one of which I am about to tell you is another debuting great band: Morkesagn, black metal act founded in 2016 from Kyyiv, Ukraine. Their debut album Where the Darkness Never Ends delivers a melodic and technical black metal that taps much into the Swedish tradition; at some moments, you will feel the breath of Dissection but also of Watain, but the band blends these influences in a mystical and occult way, thus reflecting very well the title of the album. The band proves to have a good musicianship, and I really like how they sometimes use the solo as part of the overall atmosphere; an admirable example is in “Heart of Poison”. The clean and polished production also recalls the Swedish school and is very effective in general.
I would say that the absolute value of this album is definitely above average; if we then also consider that is also a debut album, it is even impressive. Give it a listen!
