Mgła do not need to be introduced and their new album Age of Excuse will make many fans happy. The Polish band has created a brand and their sound is unmistakable, and in this respect Age of Excuse does not present any significant changes and continues on the same path marked by Exercise in Futility. You will recognize their typical black metal full of melodies, but at the same time Mgła have reworked their sound by filling it with fury and rage and adding vaguely dissonant elements as in “Age of Excuse III”. Basically the recipe is the same but with a couple of new ingredients, even though “Age of Excuse VI” does have a kind of low-pitched riffing that is unusual for them. I wouldn't say that Age of Excuse sounds like something incredibly new but it's still an excellent album, one of the top albums in 2019.
