Founded in 2015 in Australia, Mesarthim is an experimental project that blends black metal and trance, with atmospheres that reflect the astronomical and cosmic themes of the lyrics. Mesarthim has recently released a new album with the emblematic title The Degenerate Era that seems so fitting for our times. The surreal and swirling sky in the cover is as visionary as the music delivered by the band. The album is very well constructed and displays the Australian duo's talent for composing music, with solid structures and a great balance between the dreamy and evocative component and the ferocious and aggressive one. The Degenerate Era also contains references to previous material; for example, in “Paradox” there is a melody similar to “The Great Filther” from 2016. Mesarthim have a clear idea of what they want to do and a very personal sound, and they are also very productive. If you like atmospheric black metal, this is an unmissable masterpiece!
