The style of Merrimack has always been characterized by bleak and evil vibes, but also by a certain elegance and refinement, and since their tradition is to make each time a better album than the previous one, they have respected the tradition this time too. Omegaphilia is perfect in every aspect: the production is for sure even better than the already wonderfully produced The Acausal Mass from 2012. Moreover, in my opinion, they managed to also add a melancholy note to the whole.
To conclude, Omegaphilia by Merrimack is an immense masterpiece that should not be missing on the shelf of any respectable blackmetaller.
Notes:
Omegaphilia was released on June 9 2017 through Season of Mist. The monicker Merrimack comes from an ancient Celtic word meaning ‘depth of Hell’.
