After Nekros Philia from 2014, which I myself have reviewed here, Finnish Lord of Pagathorn are back with the new Daimono Philia. Last time I was not entirely sure that the Finns had done their best, but this time I have to say that the result is really remarkable. Unlike Nekro Philia, whose structure was too complicated with many intros and interludes and was in fact dispersive, Lord of Pagathorn have chosen for Daimono Philia a structure that is perhaps simpler and more traditional, but it gains in effectiveness and concreteness. Sometimes you will recognize the typical vibe of Finnish black metal, maybe Sargeist of which drummer and vocalist Hellwind is also a member. The effort is evident in every aspect, both in the song-writing and in the production, and the album is varied, raw and modern, profound and straightforward at the same time. Masterpiece.
