Kampfar (Norway): “Ofidians Manifest”

Many Norwegian bands have released a new album this year, and all of them are great bands. Kampfar's new album Ofidians Manifest surely emerges as one of the best black metal albums so far. What more could they do after so many great albums? The Norwegian band has succeeded in churning out another pagan masterpiece full of epic vein, as in “Eremitt”, or of classical music, as “Natt”, but also delivering at the same time the unmistakable Kampfar sound as in “Skamløs” or “Syndefall”. Ofidians Manifest is a vivid and profound album, with lots of ideas at its centre, a proof that after 25 years of activity Kampfar are still great artists. I would say that Ofidians Manifest admirably combines evolution and conservatism, it is an album that reveals something new every time you listen to it. Supreme.
