The new album presents somewhat new and altered face of the band. Some influences from Opeth are distinguishable especially in the acoustic parts, for example in the intro “Przedświt”. I think, though, that there are also influences from prog of the 70s. However, this album is a display of broad music culture and great musicianship. Convulsive riffs follow one upon the other backed by an excellent rhythm work. See for example in “Kamienie” how articulately the drummer breaks down the tempos. There is also a great deal of atmosphere, sometimes even a melancholy mood, especially in some songs like “Pod Niebem utkanym z popiołu” and “Cisy”, but at the same time Jarun are not lost on frills and are very straight-to- the-point and harsh, such as in “Noc niedokończona”.
The content of the lyrics is veiled by the use of the Polish language, at least for those who don’t know this language. The sound, on the other hand, is very decent, even if you feel it is an underground production; probably with a better sound the band could make a decisive improvement, but Pod Niebem utkanym z popiołu is an excellent album as it is. Do not miss to listen to it!
