Intig debut album shows a very personal and almost experimental approach combining traditional patterns within depressive black metal with ambient music; I think it is no coincidence that guitarist Andreas has also been involved in a dark-ambient solo project.
The second album Dystimi marks a step forward with the international trio expanding their soundscape with dark metal nuances: the crying scream of Jordan leaves gives way to clean vocals, included some guest female vocals. Dystymi can be considered as the result of a more reflective and introspective approach than in the past, but it remains painful and intense. That Intig are not a one-man band, as most depressive black metal acts usually are, is reflected in the richness of ideas and not least in the natural and not synthetic sound of the drums, which I always appreciate and prefer. Too bad for the too homemade production, which is currently the flaw and the limit of this band.
However, Intig are definitely able to offer intense and engaging listening experiences, especially for those who are into depressive black metal.
