Typical Swedish sound for this band from Stockholm. Formed in 2007, after a live album, a demo and a single, Hyperion finally released their first full-length album in 2016. Seraphical Euphony will feed all those who love melodic black / death metal with “Swedish guitars”. The album displays a big deal of skillfulness and is performed perfectly in every part, but it is relies on clichés and commonplaces derived from the Swedish tradition. For this reason, although it is a good album, Seraphical Euphony is not impressive especially for a lack of originality.
To conclude, Hyperion are certainly a good band but need to do something more to really stand out.
