Samhain Celebration is a split launched by the German label Heimat Musik to celebrate the Celtic festival of Samhain; the first edition of this split appeared in 2016, and the German label recruited four bands for the occasion: Swedes Grift, and then four German bands, Farsot, Mosaic, Vivus Humare.
Let’s start from the more renowned bands: Grift presented an acoustic remake of two old songs: “Svältorna” and “Dödens dåd”; celebrated Farsot, who perhaps snubbed this release a little bit, chose two pre-productions of as many old songs from the first album III. The most interesting part of this split is the contribution of the other two bands, not the least because they contributed unreleased songs; but apart from that, both Mosaic and Vivus Humare produce really top-notch black metal, especially Vivus Humare impressed me. And it is thanks to these two bands that I think it is worth sharing this split.
In this article you will only find the contributions by Grift, Mosaic and Vivus Humare, though, because Farsot have not digitally released their part in the split.
