Eventually it has arrived! Four after their formation, the first album by Gaahls Wyrd, the band launched by ex-Gorgoroth Gaahl in 2014, has landed in our stereo systems  preceded by so much anticipation and curiosity. Gaahls Wyrd started to participate in metal festivals as early as 2017 and their repertoire was based on Gorgoroth's albums with Gaahl's trade mark, such as Incipit Satan, Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam, Quantos Possunt at Sanitatem Trahunt; one could therefore expect that Gaahls Wyrd would continue in the same direction, but GastiR - Ghosts Invited is completely different. It is a magnificent album that does not reproduce stale stuff but a new unique sound that ranges from Norwegian black metal tradition to classical metal. Excellent vocal work by Gaahl who modulates his voice in a thousand different ways from song to song, but the other members' work is also excellent. On the other hand, the band is made up of first-class musicians, of which the most famous is bassist Eld of Aeternus and Krakow. I would say that drummer Spektre is also terrific. To conclude, GastiR - Ghosts Invited oozes malaise, evil, paranoia and is very engaging. Masterpiece.
