Although the name is French, Foret d'Orient are actually an Italian band from Venice with even lyrics in Italian. This band was formed in 2009 as a quintent featuring also a a 47 strings orchestral harp, playing alongside metal structures. In 2011 the band released the Essedvm EP, in which lyrics and concepts are inspired by the romance esotericism, hidden episodes and cultural traditions of the pre-unitary italic peninsula. Two years later guitarist Leopoldo "Sirivs" Santoro left the band for personal reasons, but the band was joined by the skilled guitarist Marino De Angeli (also producer of the band) and by the talented pianist/composer Simone Giorgini as orchestral arranger to perfect the whole symphonic stuff with his Wintermoon Orchestra. So in 2015 Foret d'Orient finally released their first album Venetia, clearly inspired by their native city. This album is a furious Venetian reply to the Napoleonic hate and violence, the Austrian oppression and the vile italian attempt to annihilate the Venetian people through the old Roman mechanism of “damnatio memoriae”.  The album can be described as symphonic atmospheric black metal, very melodious but in the long run a little tiresome. Good.
