Unholy Black Metal |

I think this is the first time I have reviewed a newborn band, and this is the most interesting aspect of this review, perhaps the only one, alas! Dömd is a one-man band formed in 2021 on the Swedish island of Gotland, and I Skuggan av ringmuren is the first demo ever of the Swedish act. As the Swedish scene is renowned all over the world with so many excellent bands, even the least famous ones, you might believe that this is yet another great Swedish band, but that's not the case. The band presents itself as primitive black metal with “lyrical themes such as myths, folklore, nature and darkness”. Apart from this, there is unfortunately not much to say except that I skuggan av ringmuren is totally lackluster, uninteresting, and stereotypical, to the extent that it was almost a pain to listen to it. What surprises me most is that the mastermind of this project is an ex-member of another band from Gotland like Nårdegaist that I know as a good band, so not an unexperienced “wanna-be” musician. Well, hopefully it will go better next time!
