Behemoth (Poland): “I Loved You at Your Darkest”

When it comes to Behemoth there is little to say, we just have to listen and enjoy. The recently released album I Loved You at Your Darkest is perhaps the best black metal (or black/death metal if you like) album released in 2018. The Polish band has an incredible ability to renew themselves while remaining faithful to their style. I Loved You at Your Darkest is the natural continuation of The Satanist, but at the same time it is also new and different. The choir of the intro “Solve” creates a dense gloomy atmosphere and is a main theme of the album; the use of synths, the class of Inferno and Seth, and of course Nergal, make this album a masterpiece. Just as an example I mention the vigorous “God = Dog”: how continuously the drums tempo varies, and how perfect the arrangements are. In practice, listen to it immediately if you have not already done so.
