This is an excerpt from the press release that I received along with the promo material. Sometimes I think the label “raw black metal” is abused and has become a sort of umbrella to cover or justify the mediocrity of a band. Barbaric Horde are a Portuguese band and Gasmask Perpetrators is their first demo. My opinion is that they do not play “technical wankery” just because they are not able to play; the drummer knows only two, maybe three, tempos, and that’s it. To a band like Barbaric Horde (or to those who wrote that press release) I would say that playing raw black metal does not necessarily mean being poor musicians, so practice your instruments and learn how to play. This demo is poor from all the possible points of view, and it is hard to find something good in it. However, I will share it and I will let you judge by yourselves.
