Abbath (Norway): “Outstrider”

​Three years after  the homonymous debut album, Abbath have returned with the new album Outstrider and a new 50% revolutionized lineup: bassist King ov Hell and drummer Creature left the band in 2018 and have been replaced by Italian woman bassist Mia Wallace, aka Soulfucker, and Finnish drummer Ukri Suvilehto. Outstrider continues with coherence the path taken up in 2015, which is to give black metal a rock'n roll twist with vibes and influences from Motörhead and Kiss, bands notoriously appreciated by Mr. Abbath. As a result the album is brutal and fun, as in the spirit of the band’s mastermind. Obviously the album is masterfully composed, arranged, performed and recorded, and the sound is now a real Abbath trademark. In my opinion the best tracks are “Calm in Ire (of Hurricane)” and “Harvest Pyre” that also echoes the sound of later Immortal. You simply have to listen to it!
