Under the Black Sun is one of countless festivals that take place in Germany, and although it is less well-known than others like Wacken, Summer Breeze, Party San, it is almost as old, as this year's edition is the number 20. However, the 2017 edition was the first to take place in the new location of Friesack, “in the woods outside Berlin” as the festival poster goes. This was due to the fact that this year festival organizers did not get permission for the historic location of Heleneau, which caused discontent among a few fans. This factor, together with the climatic conditions (the sun wasn’t black, but there was no sun at all actually), caused this year's festival, which is already in itself addressed to a small audience of initiates, to be less visited than previous editions. The festival was in fact ruined by an incessant and irritating rain for three days, but the weather was compensated by an impressive lineup with bands like Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult, Nocturnal Depression, Angantyr and others. Here's a punch of videos of the best performances.
