As you know Abbath lost drummer and guitarist, but what I just found out from Per Valla, former guitarist of Abbath and vocalist and guitar player of Vredehammer, is that he is working on his new project which instantly caught my ears. I like it a lot. Per said that it's just the beginning and that there are more serious things going on in the future. As he is continuing touring with Vredehammer and I need to say that this year Vredehammer will participate in Blastfest and Inferno, he does not give himself free time... So far I have heard a song named ‘Oceans’, which is outstanding.
By his words this idea is not recent. He had been thinking about launching this project for a long time and tried many approaches to find the exact sound that he wanted. After nearly two years of rehearsal he finally found it and the project was started.
Valla delivers black metal with a form of synth that has not been used much before. It almost sounds like the synth that was used in the 80's pop music, but Per Valla feels that this sound has a great “Winterish” effect.
As his other band Vredehammer is progressing in a direction away from Black Metal, the Valla project let Per keep writing black metal in the way he loves to do it.
Valla is a one man band and the first song “Under ravnens vinger” was finished around Christmas 2015.
About future plans Valla said:
“The plan is to do this project a little against the current. The music business is just so messed up today and because of that I will record at home and release this on YouTube. If anyone wants to buy the music, they can download it directly from me for 1 euro per song. This way I don`t have to give 99% of everything to Spotify or other services. It`s just not fair!”
Here is Valla's new song “Oceans”, so enjoy!
