Emperor has been confirmed for Sweden Rock Festival 2014, and this will make Scandinavian blacksters happy. Among the other bands that blacksters will like, there are Death SS, from Italy, and Asphyx, the great band from Holland; other big attractions of the festival will be Black Sabbath and Alice Cooper. The Norwegian historic black metal band had previously been confirmed also on the bill of Wacken Open Air Festival and Hellfest 2014 and Unholy Black Metal had given the news (check it out on the link below). Within black metal Norwegian Emperor is celebrated like very few. The band, centered around frontman Ihsahn (Vegard Sverre Tveitan) and guitarist Samoth (Tomas Haugen), pioneered the grandiose and keyboards saturated black metal. The debut In the Nightside Eclipse (1994) is one the most acclaimed releases in black metal’s history, and will be performed in its entirety at Sweden Rock Festival. Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk (1997) gave the band a more broad impact, with the "album of the year" nominations in various magazines as well as a video for the single "The Loss and Curse of Reverence”. In 2001, after only another two albums, IX Equilibrium (1999) and Prometheus - The Discipline of Fire & Demise (2001), with increasing progressive inserts for each release, Emperor was put down. This of course has only increased their legend status. During a period between 2005 and 2007, they performed a number of gigs in different countries, but only to break up again. Now it's finally time again. In 2014 Emperor will return to a few selected live stages, among which Sweden Rock Festival will be the only show in Scandinavia.
