A very bad piece of news was spread on February 1 2017 when the Board of the organizers of Blastfest, the extreme metal festival organized in Bergen, announced that the festival had been cancelled. The most sad thing is that not only will the 2017 edition be cancelled, but it seems that there won’t be any Blastfest anymore in the future. Here is the statement on the Blastfest homepage:
“BLASTFEST 2017 IS CANCELLED
Blastfest has though several years pleased Metal and Hardrock fans abdroad and domestic. The festival was arranged first year in 2014. Great names has been presented, first and foremost for the local Bergen audience, but also for a number of guests from abroad.
Blastfest AS has tried to continue arranging the festival, but du to low ticketsales and low forecasts for ticketsale, the board of the company, with regrets, has found it correct to cancel the festival. The company has been delivered to The Bergen Tingrett for dissolution of the company.

Tickemaster is going to inform all ticket holders about the refunds.”
The festival was supposed to feature acts such as Scour, Dying Fetus, Katatonia, Marduk, Leprous, Devin Townsend Project, Between The Buried and Me, and more. French controversial black metal band Peste Noire was removed from the bill after being booked because of pressure from Antifa and left wing groups.
