The secrecy about the identity of Papa Emeritus II, singer of Ghost, has been broken. Yes, by Adam Darski, a.k.a. Nergal, of Behemoth. Nergal posted a picture on Instagram of him and Tobias Forge (Repugnant, Subvision), for long considered the one who wears the costume of Papa Emeritus, with the caption “If you have ghosts ... U have everything;)”, a quotation from the song “If You Have Ghosts” by Roky Erickson, which was covered by Ghost on their latest EP If You Have Ghosts, released in November 2013. The selfie was taken at the backstage of FortaRock Festival 2014, on May 31 in Nijmegen, Netherlands. Both Ghost that Behemoth performed there.
Speaking to Jägermeister at Sonisphere Festival, held in the U.K. in July, one of the Nameless Ghouls of Ghost stated the following: “Adam from Behemoth is a really, really nice guy; we only have good things to say about him, and we hope [he feels] the same way [about us]. I mean, it's… We don't really know what to say about that except for we keep our identities as secret as we possibly can, of course, but at some point it's bound to happen, some things that are not really optimal for us, of course. But the identity part is always gonna be, for as long as can take it, it's gonna be a hassle in many ways, and I think we have managed to keep it below the radar, for the most part, at least.”
