There is still one month to go for the 2014 edition of the Eindhoven Metal Meeting, scheduled for December 12th and 13th, but the lineup for this hell in the Netherlands is complete and certainly worth a trip! Some of the true forefathers of extreme metal, notably At the Gates, Asphyx and Morbid Angel are featured, along with further titans such as Triptykon, Primordial, Unleashed, Urfaust, Ensiferum, Carach Angren and Valkyrja.
At the Gates were amongst the most prominent bands emerged in the surge of Swedish death metal in the 90s. Disbanded soon after their masterpiece Slaughter of the Soul was released in 1995, Tomas Lindberg&Co. have recently reunited and we are waiting for the new album At War with Reality, due on October 27th, from which we are currently enjoying the title track.
Florida death metal pioneers Morbid Angel are embarking on a massive European tour, the same that will take them to Eindhoven, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Covenant, an album that needs no further introduction.
Aside from the headliners, the bill offers much more to blast anyone’s ears. The complete program, along with useful tips on accommodation and the venue, can be found on the festival’s official website http://www.eindhovenmetalmeeting.com (see also the poster with the full programme below). Tickets are on sale on Ticketmaster (2-Day Combi 80 euro, ticket Friday December 12th 45 euro, ticket Saturday December 13th 50 euro). The ticket will also give free access to the wild afterparty, to be held at the Dynamo Club on the night of Friday with participation of the cover bands Mercyfull Fake and Forever Twisted and Dutch death metal ladies Sisters of Suffocation. The location, as always, is the renowned two-hall theatre of Effenaar, just a few minutes’ walk from the central station and the city centre. Eindhoven has its own airport and can be easily reached from several European main cities.
